Who Runs Our Place Wye?

Our Place Wye CIC is run by a team of directors who meet four times a year. The current directors are Jasper Bouverie (Chair), Carole Gower, Penny Haynes, Mary Stewart and Wendy Weidner.

The directors in turn are supported by a management team of representatives from different organisations in the village: for example, the church, the parish council, the surgery’s patient participation group, the village hall charity. This group also meets quarterly to discuss possible initiatives to benefit the people of Wye.

Our History

The business was initially set up in 2016 after consultation with villagers had revealed various needs: in particular better communications in the community and a desire for some sort of communal eating place to address social isolation.

Since then, Our Place Wye has been successful in applying for a number of grants. Support has come from the Kent Community Foundation, the National Lottery’s Community Fund, Wye Parish Council and donations from local people and their relatives.

The company has also been supported by local businesses - which gain the right to post on the village Facebook group in return for a regular small subscription. If you run a local business and would like to get involved in this scheme, please contact the administrator (admin@ourplacewye.org.uk).
