Sensory Garden

The Community Warden has arranged for the lease of a plot of land, opposite the Fire Station in Little Chequers, from Ashford Borough Council.

Through the Our Place Wye initiative, we hope to change the currently overgrown old allotment plot into a sensory garden which the whole community can use and enjoy. Sensory gardens can have many benefits including improving physical fitness, health, mood and cognition.

To achieve this, we want as many of Wye’s wonderful community to be involved. Over the coming months there will be a series of working parties arranged to help clear the site, lay a pathway, plant fruit trees and other plants, grow and donate plants, make benches, hedgehog and insect houses and install a water feature.

We will be looking for some of Wye’s great gardeners to put forward planting schemes and designs. Please look out for further updates once the lease has been signed.

Initial funding provided by Borough Councillor Noel Ovenden and Ashford Borough Council
